Companies donate to help students succeed

02/23/07 -- Star News North Carolina  - Bill Saffo, Sandra Britt and Tim Kelly, of Hanover Realty Inc., and Craig Stevens, of Stevens Building Co., will be donating to the Communities In Schools of Brunswick County through its Lots For Learning fund-raising program.

Lots For Learning enables real estate professionals to make a volunteer donation for every closing transaction.

In this case, the donations will be made for each lot sold in the Grayson Park and Cove Landing developments, with proceeds benefiting youth and family needs through CIS programs in the Leland area.

Britt, a lifelong Brunswick resident, and Stevens are the exclusive agent and builder of Grayson Park and Cove Landing.

Everette Milligan, CIS community relations director, is recruiting real estate developers, builders, brokers, mortgage lenders and attorneys to join the Lots For Learning effort.

"This partnership is an example of how the real estate community can help support our community's children who need extra help to succeed in school," Milligan said.

Proceeds from the Lots For Learning partnership support children and families in Brunswick County through CIS programs including Adopt-A-School Partnerships, Volunteer Recruitment and Training, Teen Court, 11 After School programs, three Family Resource Centers, one Literacy Center and scholarships.
