PA Pub Builds 123-Pound Burger For Charity Event

02/27/07 -- Megan Shannon - Clearfield, PA (AHN) - A Clearfield, Pa. pub recently unveiled what they call a new world record -- a 123-pound cheeseburger. The sandwich was the main attraction at the Beer
Barrel Charity event.

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub owner Denny Leigey said he has beaten the competition -- a 105-pound burger from New Jersey and another from Thailand.

The creation started off with an 80-pound beef patty. Then its creators heaped on a pound
of lettuce, relish, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Then they piled on five onions, 12
tomatoes, a couple pounds of banana peppers and 160 slices of cheese.

Then they squeezed all that into a 30-pound bun and garnished it with 33 pickles.

The charity burger is going for $379.

A few years ago Leigey also won biggest burger when he created a 15-pound burger. He
plans to submit his latest creation to the Guinness Book of World Records.
